Sermon on Acts 3:16 (KJV)

Scripture: "And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all." - Acts 3:16 (KJV)

Introduction:

Beloved, today we gather to reflect on a powerful moment recorded in the Book of Acts. In Acts 3:16, Peter explains that the miraculous healing of the lame man was not by human power, but by faith in the name of Jesus Christ. This verse calls us to recognize the authority, sufficiency, and living power of Christ's name—and the transforming faith that flows from Him. Let us explore the depth of this truth and its meaning for our walk with God.

1. The Power of His Name:

Peter makes it clear: the healing did not come from his own holiness or ability. It came through the name of Jesus, which carries divine authority and unmatched spiritual power. The name of Jesus is not a mere label—it is the revelation of His identity as Savior, Lord, and King.

  • Application: Call upon the name of Jesus in every circumstance. When fear rises, speak His name. When temptation presses, declare His authority. When weakness overwhelms, trust that His name brings strength, clarity, and victory.

2. Faith in His Name:

The verse emphasizes not only the name of Jesus but faith in His name. Faith is the channel through which God's power flows. It is not faith in ourselves, our works, or our worthiness—it is faith rooted entirely in Christ's finished work.

  • Application: Strengthen your faith by immersing yourself in Scripture, prayer, and worship. Remind yourself daily that your confidence rests not in your performance but in Christ's perfection. Faith grows when we shift our focus from our limitations to His limitless power.

3. Perfect Soundness Through Christ:

The healed man stood with "perfect soundness"—a phrase that speaks to complete restoration. Christ does not offer partial healing or temporary relief. His work is whole, deep, and transformative. The physical healing in Acts 3 mirrors the spiritual healing He offers to every believer.

  • Application: Invite Christ into the broken places of your life—your wounds, your doubts, your habits, your fears. Trust that He desires to bring full restoration, not just improvement. Walk boldly in the wholeness He provides.

Conclusion:

As we reflect on Acts 3:16, let us remember that the name of Jesus is powerful, faith in His name is essential, and the restoration He brings is complete. The same Christ who strengthened the lame man stands ready to strengthen you today. Lean into His name, trust in His power, and walk in the fullness of His healing grace.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may faith in His mighty name strengthen every step you take. Amen.
